How our service works
.jpg&w=3840&q=75)
At myBMI, our goal is to support our patients in losing weight safely and effectively through clinically proven treatments and healthy lifestyle changes.
All treatment is overseen by our IMC registered doctors and supported by our clinical teams, so you’re never navigating weight loss alone.
We deliver care online through a secure digital consultation, allowing our clinicians to review your health, assess whether treatment is suitable, and provide ongoing support that fits around your life.
Here is how it all works:

1. Online consultation
To get started, you complete an online consultation form. This asks about your health, medical history, current weight, and weight loss goals.
This is to help us understand whether weight loss treatment is safe and appropriate for you.
There is no need to visit a GP or attend an appointment in person. Everything is done online, in your own time, and in privacy.
2. Medical review
Once your consultation is submitted, it is reviewed by one of our IMC registered doctors.
They will assess:
- Your medical history and current health
- Any existing conditions or medications
- Whether weight loss treatment is clinically appropriate
Completing a consultation does not guarantee treatment. A doctor will always review your information first and may decline or recommend an alternative if treatment is not suitable. This is an essential safety step and exactly how prescribing works in a traditional clinical setting, just online.
3. Prescription issued
If your treatment is approved, your prescription is issued and sent directly to our partner pharmacy.
The pharmacy will contact you separately to:
- Arrange payment for your medication
- Arrange courier collection to your address
- Answer any pharmacy-related questions
Important: myBMI charges a consultation fee only.
The cost of medication is paid separately to the pharmacy and is not included in your consultation.
4. Free, ongoing care throughout your weight loss journey
Weight loss treatment is not a one-off prescription. We continue to support you throughout your journey.
Our clinical and pharmacy teams remain available to:
- Monitor your progress
- Support dose changes where appropriate
- Help manage side effects
- Answer questions at any stage of treatment
Whether you are starting treatment, titrating doses, or moving into maintenance, support remains in place.
How we continue to support you
Free side effect support
If you experience side effects, we provide supportive treatment as part of your plan, where clinically appropriate. This may include treatments to help with:
- Acid reflux or stomach discomfort
- Bloating
- Constipation
- Diarrhoea
Our aim is to help you stay comfortable and supported, rather than struggling through side effects alone. If symptoms change, worsen, or feel new, our clinicians are always available to review your treatment.
Our companion app
All myBMI patients can download our companion app to support their journey.
The app allows you to:
- Track your weight and progress over time
- Access expert-curated guidance and educational content
- Keep all your treatment information in one place
- View past orders and place new ones when appropriate
It is designed to support consistency, confidence, and easy access to help whenever you need it.
Your privacy, security, and confidentiality
We understand that weight loss treatment is personal, and protecting your privacy is a core part of how our service works.
All information you share with myBMI is handled confidentially and in line with Irish and EU data protection laws, including GDPR. Your personal and medical information is only accessed by authorised clinical and pharmacy professionals who need it to provide your care.
Secure digital consultations
Our online consultation process uses encrypted systems to keep your information secure from the moment you submit it. This ensures that:
- Your health details are protected during submission and storage
- Only relevant clinicians can view your consultation
- Your information is never shared without a clinical or legal reason
Confidential clinical care
Your consultation is reviewed by IMC registered doctors and weight loss experts, under the same confidentiality standards as a face-to-face medical appointment.
Your medical information is treated with the same level of discretion as it would be in a GP surgery or hospital setting.
Safe and discreet medication delivery
If your prescription is approved:
- Medication is supplied by a licensed pharmacy
- Orders are prepared in plain, unbranded packaging
- No information about your treatment is visible on the outside of your box
This protects your privacy whether you live alone or share your address.
Strict data protection standards
We:
- Only collect information that is necessary for your care
- Do not sell or share your data for marketing purposes
- Store data securely and retain it only for as long as required by law and clinical guidance
You always have the right to access, correct, or request information about your data.
A service you can trust
From consultation to ongoing support, confidentiality and security are built into every step of our service.
Your trust matters, and we are committed to safeguarding your information while providing safe, responsible medical care.
Our commitment to safe, supported weight loss
myBMI combines medical expertise with structured lifestyle support to make weight loss treatment accessible, responsible, and safe.
You are never prescribed treatment without review, and you are never left without support once treatment begins.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to speak to a doctor in person?
No. All consultations are completed online. Your information is reviewed by an IMC-registered doctor without the need for an in-person appointment.
Is online prescribing safe?
Yes. Online prescribing follows the same clinical standards as face-to-face care. Prescriptions are only issued after a full medical review to ensure treatment is safe and suitable.
What happens if treatment is not suitable for me?
If a clinician decides treatment is not appropriate, they will not prescribe it. This decision is made purely on clinical grounds and is in place to protect your health.
Who supplies my medication?
Your medication is dispensed by our partner pharmacy. myBMI does not sell medication directly.
Will I still get support after I start treatment?
Yes. Ongoing support is a core part of our service. You can contact our clinical teams or partner at any point during your journey.
