Claiming back your weight loss treatment

If you have health insurance, you may be able to claim back part of your weight loss treatment. Many plans cover prescription costs and medication charges, which means you could reduce what you pay overall. Here’s how claiming works, what you can claim for, and how to get your receipts.

Can you claim back weight loss treatment with myBMI?

Depending on your policy, you should be able to claim back part of your consultation fees and part of the cost of your medication from our partner pharmacy.

You’ll make your claim directly with your insurer, using the receipts provided.

What can you claim for?

Consultation fees

Your consultation with myBMI can often be claimed as a GP visit.

We’ll provide a receipt for every consultation, which you can download from your account.

Medication costs

Your prescription treatment may also be eligible for reimbursement.

Our partner pharmacy or your pharmacy of choice will provide a separate receipt for your medication.

You’ll usually need to submit these as two separate claims.

How much can you claim back?

Most people can claim back between 25% and 50% of their costs.

The exact amount depends on:

  • Your insurer
  • Your level of cover
  • Your remaining yearly allowance

Check your policy or contact your insurer to see exactly what you’re covered for.

How the claiming process works

Claiming is simple and only takes a few steps:

  1. Download your consultation receipt from your myBMI account
  2. Download your medication receipt from the pharmacy
  3. Submit both to your insurer (online or by form)
  4. Your insurer processes the claim and reimburses you

That’s it. Once you’ve done it once, it becomes part of your routine.
