What is the myBMI Wegovy price?  

myBMI's monthly Wegovy prices are transparent, shown in the table below.

The price includes your consultation, your prescription at the appropriate dose, as well as any support and medication you may need to deal with Wegovy side effects.

What does paying for one month’s worth of Wegovy get me? 

A monthly Wegovy subscription from myBMI comes with everything you need to get started on your weight loss journey, including:

• one FlexTouch pen
• four needles, one for each dose
• a sharps bin for your needles (if needed)

How many doses are in one Wegovy pen? 

Each Wegovy pen contains four doses. You inject one dose of Wegovy per week, on the same day every week. Four weeks is the minimum time you stay on a dose before it can be increased.

When taking Wegovy, do not:

• attempt to split pens across more than one injection
• use a pen that hasn’t been refrigerated before opening
• use a pen that’s been open longer than six weeks

Always follow your prescriber's advice on dosing, and don’t increase or reduce your dose without a consultation.

What else is included in the cost of Wegovy?  

As well as your medication and a free sharps bin for your needles, when you start your treatment with Wegovy, you will be given access to:

• clinical review and support

Side effects treatment and support 

As with any medication, Wegovy can potentially have side effects.

Because Wegovy mimics the effects of a hormone called GLP-1, which acts on your digestive system, the most common side effects are related to your stomach and digestion, including:

• diarrhoea
• constipation
• nausea
• heartburn (acid reflux)
• indigestion

Most of these side effects tend to be short-lived and will go away on their own within a few days.

Wegovy price comparison 

There are several options for weight loss medications approved for sale in Ireland. Let’s break down the differences in costs between them.

Wegovy vs Mounjaro cost 

Mounjaro is currently more expensive than Wegovy in Ireland. This is likely due to Mounjaro being a dual-action medicine, meaning it contains more active ingredients and therefore has higher manufacturing costs.

Because Wegovy and Mounjaro work slightly differently, and contain different active ingredients, their dosing schedules are also different.

Mounjaro works on both GIP and GLP-1 receptors, while Wegovy works only on GLP-1 receptors. This means each treatment is introduced and increased over time in different doses.

Both medications are safe and highly effective, so which one is best for you depends on your individual tolerance to side effects, your personal health, and the difference in price.

Your prescriber will discuss and assess whether Mounjaro or Wegovy is best for you during your consultation.

Wegovy vs Ozempic cost 

Ozempic is a medication made using semaglutide, the same active ingredient that's in Wegovy, by the same manufacturer. However, it’s licensed for a different purpose.

Ozempic is approved to treat diabetes in the Ireland. As it is not used to treat the same condition, it comes in different dose strengths to Wegovy and is not prescribed for the same purpose.

Wegovy vs Rybelsus cost

Rybelsus is a type 2 diabetes medication produced by the same manufacturer as Wegovy. It contains the same active ingredient as Wegovy, semaglutide, in tablet form.

Although prices vary, the higher cost of Rybelsus from some retailers is likely due to increased production due to its patented formulation, which is required for oral absorption of the active ingredients.

Wegovy vs Retatrutide cost 

Retatrutide is a weight-loss medication currently being developed by Eli Lilly, the manufacturers of Mounjaro.

Similarly to Mounjaro and Wegovy, Retatrutide mimics the effects of the GLP-1 hormone, and, like Mounjaro, it also acts on GIP hormone receptors. 

But retatrutide also targets a third hormone receptor, glucagon, making it triple-action medication, which is why people sometimes call it ‘Triple G’. 

Because it’s currently in late-stage development, with earliest potential availability in 2026, the pricing and specific prescription criteria for Retatrutide is not currently known.

Because Retatrutide contains different active ingredients and works in a different way to Wegovy or Mounjaro, direct price comparisons of the new medication may not be accurate.

Yes, of course. If you decide to pause or stop treatment for any reason, you can stop future orders and resume any time as long as your prescriber decides it’s safe to do so. If you stop treatment for longer than 4 weeks, you may be required to restart treatment from the starter dose.
